Tips on Life Insurance Claims

If there are no complications, life insurance claims are usually paid quickly. In fact, some say that over ninety percent of all life insurance claims are paid within five days. When a person who has life insurance dies, the beneficiary will need to file the claim in order to collect any of the benefits. Filing for this claim is very important to do as soon as possible, as most of these policies have a time limit.

Unfortunately the beneficiary doesn’t always know if there is a life insurance policy or not. You can check banking records for any payments that went to an insurance company. Additionally, you may want to contact car insurance or health insurance companies to see if life insurance was bundled as a part of that plan.

Once the policy has been located, the beneficiary will need to ask the company for a claim form. This will need to include the policy number, name of the deceased, and a copy of the death certificate. It should also include the full name as well as the address of the person who is making the claim.

Once the form and death certificate have been received by the insurance company, they can begin to verify it. They will ensure that the policy exists, and that the premiums have been paid. They will also make sure that the correct person has been identified as the beneficiary. They will also verify that all of the information is correct before releasing the benefits.

Life insurance claims will often seem complicated, especially in a time where you are usually in a grieving process. However, it is something that needs to be done to cover things like funeral costs, unpaid bills or debts, and any other accounts that have an outstanding balance.
